As part of the RIS of Epirus European program, the Region of Epirus and the BIC are organizing 4 seminars (one each prefecture of the region).

The program of the seminar includes:

PART A: The new international realities, the new competitive status and the need for innovation.
PART B: Innovation and modernization
Marketing
Business planing
PART C: Examples of innovating companies
PART D: Productivity and innovation
Conclusions

The seminar have 8-hours duration, are completed in a day and are tought by Dr. K.A. Masmanidis (an ex-managing director of Dow chemicals – Hellas and president of the Greek Chemical business association).

SEMINAR INNOVATION AND THE MODERNIZATION OF LOCAL SMEs

Part of the pilot actions is the dissemination of the “innovation” concept in the entrepreneur’s society of the region. The action is implemented by as series of seminars concluded in the capitals of the four prefectures of the region (total of four seminars between November 1999 – February 2000).

The seminar has been created by Dr. Costas Masmanidis in the framework of the Epirus RIS program and addresses the needs of the small and medium Epirotian enterprises. The duration of the seminar is 8 hours and it consists of 5 main parts.

 

PART 1 – Awareness for Change

New global realities. The modern business environment. New opportunities and challenges. The new competitiveness and the need for innovation.

 

PART 2 – Modernization and Innovation. Principles of modern Business Management.

Strategic planning and Innovation. How to diagnose our competitiveness. How to determine our needs, how to establish our strategic goals for improvement, innovation and development.

Marketing and Innovation. Simplified introduction to Marketing as a basic precondition for innovation.

Innovation in products and services.

Basic principles of Total Quality Management.

Information and knowledge for innovation. Sources of information and knowledge management. The new technologies and information technology in support of the business.

The role of human resources.

 

PART 3 – Innovation

Innovation is every niche of the Company. Simple guide to product innovation. Examples of innovative companies.

 

PART 4 – The innovation process and creativity

Creativity. Lateral thinking and thinking outside the box. How to start the innovation process.

Simple innovation workshop. Creative solution. Brainstorming, selection and prioritization of ideas.
